Interview Follow Up

Help! So I applied for a job that I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE, jobs in this field are scarce, so was delighted to see this job come up, applied not knowing what kind of chance I would have but said I would give it a go.
Within a couple of days of applying, before the closing date I got an email about a first round interview. The email said that it was the first of 2 stages of interview. Got that email on a Thursday and the interview was the following Tuesday morning. Did the interview and was very happy with it, and got an email then Wednesday evening to say that I was being called to the second round which was on the following Tuesday morning. Did this interview one week ago and again was very happy with it. I know this role has a lot of competition and I am not getting my hopes up, but I was happy with how I performed on the day and I have the necessary experience etc. On the day of the interview it was stipulated that the company were very keen to fill the role as quickly as possible, and that there would now be a third stage interview with the overall manager. I agreed etc, and they said they would be informing everyone within a couple of days of the outcome and/or progression. They asked me about availability to attend the third interview, I got the impression it could be as soon as they end of last week so hoped I would hear quite quickly on the outcome of the interview, similar to the other interview and in line with what they had said about keeping the process moving forward.

So to date I have heard nothing. The interview was over a week ago now, and I am really starting to wonder. When they said they would let everyone know within a few days I really felt like by the end of last week there would be some update. I emailed to say TU for the opportunity yesterday, really in the hope that I might get a reply to say there was a delay or a no thanks, just to put me out of my misery really, but nothing back. If there is a delay that’s grand, at least I would know where I stood really, as I have checked my email about 6000 times since last week!

I don’t know what to think, and am coming up with all kinds of mad scenarios. Is this normal and I just need to continue to wait, or is this a bad sign at this stage? Also should I email/call to follow up in a couple of days time if I have still not heard anything, or is that a bit pushy?
