what holidays and weeks off do you get in NUIG? hoping to start there in September but I might be going away for 10 days around the time of the school midterm at Halloween. Just want to know would I be missing college for that time or what?

Speaking of which the academic calendar this year is a bit confusing.

    http://www.nuigalway.ie/academic_dates/documents/academic_calendar_20142015.pdf

    It says:
    "*Teaching Monday 12th January 2015 - Saturday 28th March 2015
    *Teaching Monday 13th April 2015 - Saturday 18th April 2015
Easter Holidays Thursday 2nd April - Tuesday 7th April 2015
Study Week Monday 20th April - Saturday 25th April"

So we are off from Saturday 28th March to Monday 13th April 2015. Just thought I'd mention it...

Between start and christmas there is 1 day off for the bank holiday near Halloween and then theres 1 week for study week before the exams start.

I dont know how the dates work but I know its 11 weeks teaching, 2 weeks for easter, 1 week teaching, 1 week off before exams.

I cant be assed trying to work out what dates they are but thats the most detailed way I can explain it.

    EDIT:
I think thats it, an easier way to have it is:
    Teaching Monday 12th January 2015 - Saturday 28th March 2015 (Week 1-11)
Easter Holidays Thursday 2nd April - Tuesday 7th April 2015 (2 weeks off, not sure why the dates are that)
    Teaching Monday 13th April 2015 - Saturday 18th April 2015 (Week 12)
Study Week Monday 20th April - Saturday 25th April (1 week for study week)

Easter holidays: The Easter holiday date are given here. Anything else you hear is incorrect! http://www.nuigalway.ie/academic_dates/documents/academic_calendar_2014_2015.pdf. We don't get Easter holidays at the university but lectures and labs do stop for a period of time. However the university is open as will PC suites etc.

Email I got from our head this week
