Alarm keypads

We are currently in the process of getting quotes for our new build (293 sq. dormer) and am looking at house alarms.

Without sounding ridiculous - are there any in keypads out there instead of the usual white/cream things?

Is it possible to install one of my preferred alarms (either HKC or Siemens) and add a different keypad to it then what seems to be available on the wesbites?

    Thanks in advance!!

Not that I know of. Hkc did make different colours but it never took off. Risco have a black keypad and a white keypad with the lightsys.

    Next question!

I've read up on the Risco hybrid lightsys2 and like it! (especially the keypad, the fact that things can be checked remotely from iPhone, no annual bills for notifications and it seems to get good recommendations across the board etc)

As we hope to start our build in May - when do I start getting prices from alarm installers for this system? They obviously can't do a site v is it - but can look at house plans. The house would be pre-wired due to it being a new build but would need to make sure that wires are in the right place etc!

    Thanks

You should contact some installers as soon as a site visit is practicable. Normally during the electrical first fix stage where you can still add anything extra that may come up during the survey.
Siemens do have a nice touch screen keypad that should be on the market in the next few months.
No images of it as yet, but I have seen them.
Its along the lines of these

But slimmer and shorter with a glass screen replacing the keypad & nice glass backlighting.
They also have a nice feature where they can learn in the new contactless bank cards.

That's really helpful information - thanks a million Koolkid. I know prettiness shouldn't be a deciding factor but really am in love with the risco alarm and like the extras on the website that can be added - perimeter sensors, cctv at the gate etc.

Roll on May to get the quotes and site visits so!

Yeah like the touch screen myself.
The Risco ticks all the boxes too.
