€350 for repairs- Am I being ripped off?

So I'm booked in to get the car fixed at Auto traders.
They're charging me €350 to fix:

Frayed/Cut brake hose: Both sides, front
1 tyre with tread less than 1.6mm
Exhaust leaking in two places on the underside of the car.

I'm aware that tyres aren't cheap- But €350 sounds like a lot?
I only paid €600 for the car (Around 10 months ago), trying to decide whether its worth it to get it through the NCT.

99 Polo if that changes anything...

This is in Athlone by the way, if anyone can recommend a better garage/mechanic please PM me!
I also need to get a tiny bit of bodywork done (Corrosion on one door, requires metal plate and weld) so if anyone has a recommendation for that in Athlone please let me know also...

    Thanks!

Tyres can be expensive but a new one for a 99 Polo shouldn't be no more €50 depending on the brand. Brake hoses, €20.
All depends what is wrong with your exhaust but I think €350 is a little too dear for what your are having done.
Bring it elsewhere if you feel you're being ripped off.

Are they repairing or replacing the exhaust?

Depends if there just patching exhaust sounds ok if they are replacing the parts of exhaust it s decent price.

You got to remember the labour to, something around 50 per hour at a guesstimate.

I don't know if they are patching or replacing...
He said he's "ordered parts" for me so I guess replacing?

That €350 includes VAT I would assume so allowing €60-€70 for a tyre along with the exhaust work and brake line work I don't think that's too bad.

If I bought a €600 car with no NCT and all I needed to spend on it was a few hundred quid I'd be happy enough.

Sounds like a good price. They don't take how much your car cost when charging labour! There is a bit of work there.

    doesnt sound too bad
if the 350 includes vat , 300 plus vat ish(different rate of vat for labour).
60/70 a tire so 150. say 20 a hose by two 10 for brake fluid so 50 and exhaust repairs and labour

    Am I being ripped off?

By the sounds of it you should have asked yourself that question 10 months ago when you bought the car.

simply ring around one or two other places, get a price, then you will have a better idea...
