Irish Times Wed Feb 18th. Michael Taylor.
The minister of energy has announced that starting in April a bonus of up to 10,000 Euro will be offered to anyone who swaps an older diesel powered car for an electric one.
This will benefit the world's largest maker of electric cars, the Renault/Nissan alliance. The rebate will bring down the cost of Leaf from 18,090 e to 14,390e, and Zoe from 22,400e to just 12,400e . Last year Zoe sold 11,000 making it the most popular car in Europe.
Ireland saw "an astonishing" 412% growth rate with 221 cars being pure electric.

The Irish Government are giving 10K total, 5K grant and up to 5K off VRT, I think this is pretty good if you ask me.

Giving more only helps keep the price of electrics artificially high if you ask me.
