Ceiling Speaker Replacement

    Hi

Audio equipment is not my forte and I'm hoping someone here can offer some guidance. Each room in my place has ceiling speakers in the wall (I know :-) ) They are Gale GA650 speakers, the spec can be found here w w w.gale.co.uk/ga650.html

In one of the rooms a speaker is missing which I would like to resolve. One to have stereo sound in the room, the other to stop the draft. It looks like these speaker are no longer available, and when a rare one pops up I keep loosing out on eBay.

Therefore does anyone know a good replacement speaker that closely matches the above Gale Specs (as I don't want one speaker sounding better or worse than the other).

If need be replacing the other speaker in the room is also an option (thus buying a pair instead of single). I can not afford state of the art speakers, but nor am i willing to buy a crap cheap one. So somewhere in between.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks
    Reigns

    Hi Reigns:

Declared interest first - I work for Richer Sounds

We stock the Opus OP265 - this is a really similar speaker to your Gale GA650 and will fit into the opening made for the original speaker ( your speaker has a 206 mm cut out - the OP265 needs a 205mm cut-out)

The Opus OP265 is made by the same company that made the Gales, Cambridge audio and the 265 will be a good match, both in appearance and sonically ( the 265's do sound slightly better) they are in-stock and available from Richer Sounds Belfast - you can email us on www.richersounds.ie or you can check out our commercial forum here on Boards at http://www.boards.ie/ttforum/1105

The OP265 are £99.95 / €129.99 and the euro price includes shipping anywhere across Ireland.

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

    Best regards,

    John Mc & Crew

    John

Many thanks for the information. I tried looking for that speaker on your site, but it didn't show up in search.

Can you provide me with a link?

    Thanks

    Reigns,

apologies for the delay getting back to you - unfortunately we don't have these on the new site anymore and there are scant details available online - but there are some details here:

Hi John, roughly how many ceiling speakers would you put in an average room?
