Broken screen on Samsung galaxy S5

My wife dropped her phone this evening, shattering the glass on the front of her screen.

The lcd digitizer seems to be perfect, just the glass seems to have gone, and as she has her phone encased in a protective cover, she is royally pissed off to say the least.

Anyone any ideas on a replacement / repair cost, and how much that may be?

    Thanks in advance.

Certainly cheaper than the quotes I've been getting so far.

A YouTube search shows that it is possible to replace glass only, but none of the Irish repairers seem willing to even attempt it.

I know a reputable repair centre that will do it for €190 on the spot with a guarantee. I'll PM you.

I think you mean the digitizer is broken. The glass is the digitizer, sounds like your lcd is the part that's fine. It's an annoying job and as the lcd and digitizer come as a unit, it's an expensive part at around €100. The labour is whatever somebody wants to charge. I know syncron.ie in blanch do the repair. maybe try them?

Yes the glass can be replaced separately, however its a nightmare of a job to do. I tried a galaxy S4 the other day and all went well until the last bit when the digitizer cracked, luckily enough I had already fitted a new screen to the phone and was only trying a repair on the old screen.

The glass and the digitizer on most phones are bonded together, it takes heat and a lot of patience to separate them and it doesn't always work out, hence there is plenty selling the glass but few who'll actually fit it. My advice would be to try get a genuine screen fitted, some of the cheap knock offs can be just that... Cheap.. Phonemenders used to do them for 150 euro but I think they're gone out of business, however I'm sure there are other Samsung authorized repair centers around.
