When are you considered a professional?

I'm just looking at apartments on daft and a lot of them are saying, "would suit a young professional." Does that mean someone like a waiter or manual laborer can't apply? What sort of a job do you have to have before you're considered a professional?

It generally means someone with a 9-5 job, preferably indoors.

Someone who will pay the rent out of their own earnings, and hence might be a little more inclined to look after the place they are renting.

I have a manual labourer in any day of the week, especially someone with a trade. Leaking sink, fix it send me the bill for parts as opposed to going round every five minutes to bleed a bloody radiator.

If you have payslips you can show the landlord should they request proof of earnings to confirm you have an income, you're a professional as far as renting goes.

It really doesn't matter if you're a Fine Dining Delivery Agent, a Speed Cuisine Chef or a Construction Services Associate (ie waiter, fast-food worker or labourer)... the key thing is that you're working.

Technically the only professionals in Ireland are: Solicitors, accountants and the medical profession (doctors etc.).

That isn't a profession it's a form of punishment.


OP, when an ad states professionals only they mean employees or self employed. The owners don't want students or people out of work.
