Redundancy and Dole

Hi, Unfortunately I was let go from work and made redundant. I'm constantly looking for new jobs but without no luck. I really don't want to sign up for dole, but I have no option. I'm 23 Years old and been working various jobs since 19. I don't live with my parents, and pay my own bills, rent, car insurance, tax etc. It's very frustrating for me at the moment as I have left without no income so dole seems to be only option at the moment, until ill get myself back working (hopefully soon).

Can anyone please give me some guidance on what should I do?! How much dole I would be getting and how long I'd have to wait for it.

Why wouldnt you sign up for the dole? You paid PRSI and are fully entitled to JSB.

you need to sigh up for your dole it takes a little over a week and its back dated as to when you left your employer. Good luck with the job hunting.188 euro a week depends how long you where working in the last place.

I'm sure he isn't au fait with the terms. Go into your SW office tomorrow. JSB is €188 afaik

Yes I've paid PRSI for last 4 years. I was hoping I'd get job, any job To keep me going. I would prefer to work then being on benefits however there is nothing out there in my area. Is dole being calculated or is it fixed amount? How much would it be?
