Any recommendations for a location / accommodation for a family of two adults and two girls (9 & 12) in Apulia?

I quite like what I read about it and the temperature, the food, the sea etc.

Looking for something close to a nice beach and close to a nice town/village where there are a few things to do. Looking for serviced accommodation with two bedrooms.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jazzdub,

I recomend a city called Manduria, 10 km from the sea, very cheap. Manduria is called the heart of Salento area, because it is placed at the same distance from LECCE, TARANTO and BRINDISI. Main attraction in MAnduria are the Wine Museum and Messapic Walls. Restaurants are cheap and food is really high quality. I have been there and sleep in a place called B&B ABitazione Sandra (perfect, the owner are very nice, i had a whole floor for me and my family, very clean and they help us a lot about what to do and where to go). I have flight to Brindisi and was a car waiting us there that brough us to the b&b. You can find them in booking but is cheaper if you make a reservation trhough their web page bb-manduria.com

Another nice city is Gallipoli, but quite more expensive. I also have been there, it is much more turistic place, so depending on what are you looking for.

    Bye bye

How easy is it to travel around these places without car?
Thinking of going over easter, but don't want to drive....
    Thanks.

    Hi,

I would not recommend going around without car. You will waste hours and hours waiting bus (if they never pass) Car is the best option.
Only if you plan to stay all the time in the same place maybe would be ok.

    Thanks,
Would you recommend any one place town/sea front that we could stay for a 4/5 days at Easter?
I would not fancy the driving.
    Thanks

Where are you flighing to? Bari, Brindisi?

Otranto is my favorite city, small, very elegant. Gallipoli is nice too.

Lecce is wondefull but the beach is far 20 minutes with a bus.

Be carefull thinking about taking a taxi in the aeroport to reach those places. Taxi can be very very expensive.

This was the reason why I went to MAnduria (nice city too). When I arrived to the aeroport was a driver that bring me directly to the b&b. Manduria is nice, 10 minutes with a bus to the beach. Is quite cheap and close to other some nice city (40 km from Lecce and 40 km from Taranto). Maybe one day you could take a bus and go there, would be a pity be to 40km to lecce and not visit it). If you are interested in Manduria let me know so I can give you the b&b were I was, very nice, new building, in the city center, owner very very nice. Better if you write him before booking, he usually offer a better price that the one stated in booking.com.

Another nice area is the Gargano area, but I would not know which city you cna go, I am not really familiar with that area.

About price, is quite cheap puglia, however there are something exceptionally expensive (as taxi for example) or some restaurant in very turistic place. Always try to see the price before, somebody could take vantage of tourists. In Manduria I remember that take away pizza (or calzone or some other tipically plates) was around 10 eur for 4 people. Pizza, pasta in restaurant is between 4-7 eur, wine very very cheap (the owner of the bed and breakfast send me to one of his friend and sell me wine for 4 eur a bottle, but he had also some wine for 2 eur a bottle).

Let me know if you need further info. I will be on holiday in 10 days with limited access to internet.

    Regards
