I'm spending enough on replacing wear and tear items such as chains, cassettes, chain rings, tyres, brake pads, bar tape etc. so I've no funding for upgrades! :(

Was just thinking about this yesterday as I was cleaning my Winter bike. I've had it over 5 years now and the only original parts left are the Frame/Fork, Seat Post, Saddle and chainset!

Same as WA, I guess largely due to its age my own bike has been needing service after service over the past few months - the most recent being a new headset. Recently bought and fitted a Specialized frame pump for longer spins (if that counts?). Would be nice to have the cash for proper upgrades though.

Next on the list would be new wheels and saddle by June and hopefully being able to purchase a racer + Garmin by mid-summer!

My head hurts! WTF is all that about? Am I missing out on something?
Di2 wireless unit is a compact wireless data transmitter compatible with Dura-Ace 9070, Ultegra 6870 Di2 and Ultegra 6770 E-tube road shifting systems.SM-EWW01 easily plugs into the E-tube wiring system and seamlessly connects Di2 equipped bikes to a compatible wireless cycle computer. Shimano D-Fly transmits data through a proprietary private ANT wireless protocol

'Tis my birth in three weeks and I feel my old arse is entitled to a Brooks B17 ~ finally after deliberating for the last few years about getting one.

The temptation is to buy online but I'd rather support a LBS (since The Bike Hub in Howth is gone I'd appreciate a heads up on a decent shop in nth Dublin).

    New Headset
    New rear wheel bearings
    New Bar tape
    New Cassette
    Brake pads
    Cables and New Outers

Thinking about it these are more maintenance jobs than upgrade items, but anyway that's the list for now.

I can't be the only one who wondered how many times i've changed gear etc.?

The doohickey was cheap compared to the extra wire needed, in fairness.

    Bought in Cyclesuperstore btw.

    I can't help it. I love stats.

My bike is only 3 years old and the only original parts on it is the frame, fork and the seat post, which was actually repaired less than a week ago with epoxy glue and should be replaced...

If you can call wear and tear an upgrade, that is all the bike gets. A new inner tube just went in this evenng, and next in line are the chainrings, cassette, and the chain, but hope to get a bit more out of the current set.

Then the tyres and the brake pads, and actually the wheel rims are at least half way through since April, so will have to be replaced. The jockey wheels were serviced last night and I found a good way of extending their service life by removing the bearing dust caps and applying fresh grease.

Oh, should also think about the mudguard blades, but have the spares in stock thankfully.

Still, not bad considering the bike get a bid of use.

I do consider it upgrading as i usually replace worn parts with higher spec replacements. example i changed my 9 speed tiagra with 10speed Ultegra shifters and the stock wheels were replaced with Ksyrium elite's.
