Because there's a soccer forum for this stuff.

Mods don't like things relating to Football being posted. :/

Also I'm pretty sure you need to address the mod, not open another AH thread....good luck!

In fairness there is no mod note. I enjoyed your thread OP

Would it not usually just get moved in such circumstances?

Does op have permission to post in soccer forum, if not, mod might not have been able to transfer over

Because its about football, anything football related gets shot down within a few posts or moved to soccer forum.Gaa dosn't warrant the same treament it would seem as there is a live thread nearly 20 pages long on the go at the minute

Fair enough, but there are about ten threads in AH right now that could be in religion/personal issues/g.a.a./politics etc.

I would have discussed it with the mod who closed it but they didn't explain anything, just closed it down without any communication.

    Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I wonder will there be a thread about why this thread was closed.

The GAA thread is mostly ill-informed people bashing the GAA as an organisation whereas a soccer thread would inevitably descend into soccer fans bashing each other over which team or which player is better.

OK I dunno where to go to get my thread reopened since some mod locked it without explanation. A pretty ignorant thing to do, imo.

    Here was the original thread:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057385246

    Soccer forum ->

    Or maybe <-

    But not here.

Should of been at least explained, I agree with you OP.

Closing a thread without giving an explanation is just rude imo. All it takes is a few lines, its good manners.

I wonder should I start the thread again from scratch? I will not go quietly into that good night etc....

Ah! They sound like the words of a Tottenham Hotspur man :pac:
Seriously though I agree with you to a point, football threads usually go downhill very quickly, but in fairness to the op he wasn't to know, and no explaination given.
Even our most zealous mod and prolific 'thread closer' of recent times usually leaves a little footnote or cheeky quip on locking a thread

I think the ginger Italian lad in your earlier thread is a mod here.

Now, I've gone and started a new non-soccer specific favourite sporting moments thread:

Closing threads seems to be in today, I wonder is Sunday the day they try out of mods, and some new ones let the power go to their heads and just shut the whole lot down

Not sure why no note was given in the actual thread, but soccer threads go in the soccer forum. Feedback threads go in the feedback forum. And modding queries go to mods.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,622 ✭✭✭Ruu

Apologies OP. I was the mod in question who locked the thread. I was modding on the go and forgot to post. I'll be getting a beating by the CMods later if that makes you feel better. :(
