1 slightly more accurate than the other

I'd believe it's just for accuracy, like how you can get a minute more or less on an analogue clock whereas a digital clock leaves no room for error.

But it also depends on how accurate the gauge itself is.

I'd say most of those devices on petrol stations are so inaccurate, that whether it's digital or analog gauge it doesn't make any difference.
    Reading is not accurate anyway.

Yes, they are usually pretty banged up. I wouldn't trust them myself to be accurate.
As long as all four wheels has the same reading you'll be ok, they might be off by a little but still good enough for most cars

Er, do you mean the quincentennial bridge? Afaik no topaz in galway has digital gauges, unless it's changed very recently

I pump them a few psi over and over a couple of days use my old manual gauge to get them how I like them in terms of ride comfort and handling.

I can confirm the topaz by quincentennial bridge has a manual gauge as does the topaz by arch motors westside.

Get a wee digital guage for a few euro and check at home!

I have 2 analog and 2 digital wee gauges to check at home.
And when I go to local petrol station and compare results on station gauge and my 4 different gauges, I get 5 different result.

I don't really know anymore where to get proper gauge.....

Rear of my car is not very tolerant of low pressures and won't live with soft sidewall tyres at all. So Instead of putting in some air and then realising I need more air and more air etc meaning stopping at service station , I slightly over fill (still well under max pressures) and can easily let a tiny bit out after a couple of drives til I'm happy using my old gauge at home.

I'm the same. One electronic digital gauge, one analogue gauge I got as a gift, digital gauge on mini compressor and the garage gauge - do they ever agree? No. Which is right?
I wish there was some reference pressure to check your own gauge off.

You could always rig up a long hose about 80 feet high and fill with water and conduct an experiment to see what height of water balances the pressure in the tyre ....... or you could just use a gauge and go with personal preference for fine tuning.

I'll assume that was a tongue in cheek suggestion - in my original post I nearly added "the last time I Googled this I came across people genuinely suggesting long hoses filled with water from tall buildings";-)

Atmospheric? Is there an option to zero any of them?

A few psi makes a hell of a difference to be fair if you drive anyway quickly
