1km electric polytape fence

    Hey I have no experience with electric fences

    I need a 1km fence to keep sheep in temporary. I have enough tape and plastic posts and a 5 joule battery. I don't really understand the earthing part. Any tips or hints. Plus will I need an energiser for the fence.

    I'm going to put 3-4 strands fence. Thanks

    To earth it just put a metal bar into ground abound 2 feet should be ok. Attach your wire cable from fencer to earth pole. The other cable from your fencer goes onto your fence wire

    Some info in an old thread which I started on a while back... here

    I dunno whether a battery fencer would be good enough? I used one, and found that it was poor, but it was an old one too, so cant say for sure...

    It was also nearly a job in itself to keep the grass from earthing the bottom strand. If you weren't planning on having lambs in there, you might not need to have it so low though...
