How far are you exempt from paying income tax?

I am just curious how far you are exempt from paying income tax when you are on the dole. I know this couple who claim dole and rent allowance, etc. but the woman is also claiming to be a personal trainer and I know that she has clients whom she consults in private regularly. The guy used to give fitness classes 3 times a week last year for about 30 people and he was doing other kind of things, like six-week acting courses at the apartment that they are renting, and life coaching as well, even though he has no education or any degrees as a coach. Neither the woman nor the man pay taxes for personal training and the other activities. Does this count as tax avoidance and is it something that can be reported to Revenue?

Its not easy to measure the distance from where they are now to the beginning of tax exemption.

However , personal circumstances can vary , and it is the duty of each individual in Ireland to look after their own financial affairs , and declare income to Revenue .

Revenue would look at confidential information , and there is many ways to contact them available at their website :

Not as long as she has been paying for their lifestyle through her taxes ;)

Thank you so much, allthedoyles. I only found relevant info about companies, but probably it wouldn't be harmful to ask the Revenue guys themselves. Effects: you don't have to be an accountant to know this piece of info. I know them personally and I know that they don't do their business as a sole trader - as they should and they don't have any accountants whatsoever. I suspect a tax avoidance issue here, that's why I wanted to make sure, because as desbrook says, I don't feel like paying my taxes for the lifestyle of con artists.
