Social Welfare while doing a masters

I'm considering applying for a full time masters in Ucd starting this September. I'm in my late 20's and have been working full time for the past 5 years. I've never claimed any kind of welfare before so I'm not sure how it all works.

Would I be entitled to claim any sort welfare allowance for the year that I am in college. I understand job seekers allowance is only for people who are actively seeking a job but is there some similar payment I could receive to help pay the rent/food for the year I'm studying? I hope not to have to work part time as I want to fully concentrate on my studies.

Thanks in advance for any advice given

    Nope you'll have to work.

So under what circumstances would a person qualify for welfare while doing a masters? If they had been made redundant a few months earlier? Or on welfare long term already?

The only masters covered under Btea is the Professional Masters in Education.

If the Masters was part time, they may qualify for the Part Time Education Option and get Jobseekers. There are also post grad courses offered under Springboard.
