Hey lads, just looking for some advice, i managed to get my hands on a system from work that i plan to upgrade in bits when i can.
    Some specs
Amd a8 5600k planning on overcloking
    hyper evo cooler
    240gb ssd
    1tb hdd
4gb of 1600 ram which i plan to upgrade to 8
Mother board is asrock not sure what model.
Im planning on getting a gpu for this and was looking for some advice, i know the cpu/apu could bottleneck the gpu but if i overclock the cpu would i get away with a decent gpu?
Any help here would be great im only a novice at this but im learning alot as i go.
My plan is to play modern games on 1080p....
    Thanks for looking..

GTX750Ti. About 130 euro, doesn't need a power supply upgrade (just make sure you get a model with no extra 6-pin connections, most don't but the odd few do), and performs pretty well at 1080p. A8 is a weak enough processor, it'll be fine in some games but show it's weakness in other CPU intensive titles (like, say, BF4 online, etc).

Wouldn't be any expert mate just learning as I go along myself all your spec and potential of it seems good but I think the cpu might hold it back a small bit so you may have to upgrade that too.

thanks for your help, i know the cpu is weak but the mobo wont take the latest fx cpu's, i do plan on upgrading both cpu and mobo just not yet, even if i overclock the cpu to 4ghz will it still be no good? And i was planning on spending more on the cpu, maybe r9 280 or 280x, also i was looking at the radeon 7970. Would any of these work well?

    Also it has a 500 w psu. ...

Oh I agree mate yhh you have most of it there all you need add isncpu and mobo and gpu, I'm the same I'm looking to build my first gaming pc later this year I'm getting married first so that is taking up my money at moment. If I was you Id decide on what route to go with mob and cpu and then decide gpu. Id go with a decent board socket 1150 and an i5 cpu and then you could go for a gtx970 but that's just my opinion.

That sounds good but that's expensive for all those parts, that would be the dream alright. I'm a bit impatient I want it all now ha ha, it could be a while before I can upgrade so I think I'll stick to this plan even though I know deep down your right!!

Its all down to budget mate and what makes you happy id be thinking that if you upgrade your gpu with the cpu you have that you wouldn't get a great performance from it but if you held off and saved a bit you might work out better in long run.

See what the other guys say mate its just my opinion. Maybe there is a gpu that will work well with it but it wouldn't be a long term investment
