This has been one of the star performers within my portfolio. Although a holder for several years, since 2012 the SP has been on a faultless upward trajectory, rising almost 300% (and that excludes annual c 3.0% divi payments).

Although many shares have grown within the same period, few (with the exception of some Food/Dairy bluechips) can match the ICG SP performance an dmodest levels of risk? This brings me to my question, I am seriously considering increasing my shareholding as I believe there is scope for much greater growth buoyed by increased exports, ending of milk quotas etc?

A strong cash generative business model, strong management team, major (and strengthening) market share with well managed debt levels etc all make for a very compelling investment case. I wonder if anyone knows of other factors ( good or bad) which could or should be considered?

SKG is almost a carbon copy of the ICG story. It just proves Buffets advice right. Find a good company when its cheap and never let it go.

AFAIK he brought shares in it, as he knew their land was prime for redevelopment and worth more than their shares. So that was his reason for investing in them

I agree Lucky John but as the saying goes, nobody is perfect, even the likes of the great Buffet can get the timing wrong, eg selling his Tesco shares etc

I missed out on SKG :(

Did LC also buy into Greencore for similar reasons (development of large industrial site - former Irish Sugar Co in Carlow) ? That idea also went pear shaped but at least the company has changed direction and moving forward with many new horizons opening up. Another potential great Irish star of the future? If you're not in now, get in!!
