Appealing parking ticket

The parking ticket machine was broke so I parked up anyway and came back an hour later to a ticket (and a fixed machine)

Basically Im just wondering whats peoples experiences with these appeals? Is it worth appealing or is it handier just write it off as lesson learned. Im not going to spend weeks bickering back and forth for the sake of 40euro.

An appeal won't work here. There will always be alternative ticket machines in the area so claiming it was broken won't get you anywhere. Sure, the instructions on some ticket machines instruct you to go to other machines if the closest one isn't working.

Well your half right :P There are 2 meters in the car park. One at either end. The one I went to is usually working but today it was temporaily out of order.... the other one is... how do you say.... sledge hammered and burnt and never coming back :D

But joking aside, I think Im just gonna cut my losses on this one.

Would this be a private car park run by apcoa?

    No. Its the county council.

If these local authorities are anything to go by it seems to be a fairly effortless process involving sending a letter or email and waiting. Certainly worth trying a submission imo but not worth going to court over.

In that case then you may have a case if you genuinely were unable to purchase a ticket nearby and you can show this to be the case. For the sake of a stamp.....

What it a particularly nice colour, did the penmanship catch your eye or was it a combination of factors?

    Update

So I paid the fine anyway and then today I was parking in the car park and I saw the traffic warden and mentioned it to him. I wish now that I hadnt.

He said that he actually considered NOT giving me a ticket because Im parked there everyday and he knows the car and he knows I always have a ticket and he knew the machine was down so he was going to turn a blind eye but then figured he'd issue it anyway.

Im actually raging about the damn thing now. Is it too late to appeal after having paid?
