Fuelly gives real-world figures of 33.4mpg for a 1.4 petrol Golf, that's US figures (their gallons are different) and on the pisswater they call gas rather than 95RON so we'll call it 41mpg in Ireland, 17.5km per litre

Dublin Dundalk Dublin is about 170km so we'll call it ten litres, €13.50 or so.

Don't forget that if you live on the south or west side then the distance will be longer and road tolls will come into play.

Couple of things wrong with this.
    1. Fuelly's figures are international as it has users from all over the world, including me, so the figures are for pisswater they call gas and for 95RON.
    2. 33.4 mpg US is 40.1 mpg imperial.
    3. Assuming your 41mpg, 41 miles is 66km and a gallon is 4.546 litres. In other words 41mpg is 14.51km per litre.
    4. O'Connell St to Dublin St is 82km.

He asked for ballpark. He got ballpark. Not pedantic attempts at cent accurate predictions.

He got ballpark, but more by accident. One mistake offset an other.

Your attempt at being accurate missed the critical words "round trip", so as it's failed pedantry I don't think you've got much position to lecture on justified mistakes.

If there is a mistake in my post, point it out.

Everyone knows a round trip is a single trip multiplied by 2.

Either you're arguing that 164km is too far from 170 to use in a rough calculation or your last point was a case of thinking it was a single direction trip. More pedantry wouldn't surprise me though.

No, that's what you think my point was. You're just peeved I corrected your mistakes.
