Replacing thermostat with TRVs and a 7 day timer.

I have a wood pellet boiler in my new house that seems to be working very well.
The setup is that there is underfloor heating downstairs and rads upstairs.
I have controllers in each room downstairs so all good there.
BUT upstairs have just one single wall mounted thermostat (old dial type), and no TRVs.

My question is: Can I switch the upstairs wall thermostat for just a 7 day timer and then put TRVs on the upstairs radiators? My thinking is that the timer controls when that zone is 'on' and then the TRVs determine if any demand is created for heat.

I expect there is some reason why I still need a master thermostat in that zone but maybe someone could explain if that is the case.

    Thanks for your help.
