Tanking a shower

Just about to tile an ensuite shower area. I know a lot of people say you don't have to tank a shower unless its a wet area but if had tiles/grout in a previous house that let moisture in so I'm going to tank this one. I just have a couple of questions, 1. The tanking system I bought doesn't include a primer and as this in going on a plastered wall I think it might need one, would normal pva primer do the job or to I need a special primer? The other question I have is in regards to the tape for the corner joins, do I apply the tape to where the shower tray meets the wall or just the corners? The reason I ask that is because the tape is fairly wide and I cant see how it would work without the tape coming out onto the the tray. I'm thinking that should have been done before the tray was installed but I bought the house with the trays already installed.

I would say to just follow the instructions on your kit as far as priming goes.

I had 18mm ply around my shower and bath and primed it with the Technik tanking kit. I ran the tape over the top of the shower tray and then after tiling trimmed what was visible and sealed as normal. Simples.

PVA 6 parts water to one part pva will probally do but BAL APD primer would be better.
If your shower tray does not have upstands fit a " sealux pro 25 seal and sealux silicone",clean shower tray with white spirits before fitting.
fit the tanking kit over the upstand on the sealux seal, also fit the tape over the sealux seal and at the wall corners.Apply 2 to 3 coats.
Use Bal one flexibale or evo-stik one part flexible or dunlop plus adhesive for bonding tiles
