Replace wall with gate to access garden

I am wondering if I need any permission to remove the wall to put a gate large enough for a car. It is a detached house, the wall is around 2mt. high, near the main door/entrance with private parking on the front, there are 50 mt. high walls to separate the front of the house. The house is in Clonsilla.

If I need the permission, I cannot afford the risk of have a negative answer (permission not granted) since I need a house with a garage. Yes, I am thinking to buy the house, put a gate, a concrete base a build a garage not bigger than 25 sq. m.

Yes you need planning oermission to create a vehicular entrance.

Speak to the planner for the area to see if it's something that would be granted. It's free to ask for pre planning advice.

Thank you very useful. Since I have been living in Ireland since last year, how can I contact a 'planner for the area'?

I think you are in Fingal County Council area so if so see Blanch/town office here

the access will require planning as will the garage if certain conditions are not met, regardless of size so best check with the planners.

Also if house is in an estate, look at other houses in area
