I lost my drivers learner permit 2 nights ago (most likely in a nightclub). If I want to get a replacement do I have to go through the entire process again? It cost 35 euro to get it the first time and it was quite a bit of hassle getting all of the necessary document. Will I have to go through all of that sh*t again and get another eye test etc or can they just send you out a copy of the one they already produced for you?

You can get a replacement at some cost, can't remember how much. You might have to go to the NDLS thingy now though, it used to be done at the motor tax office.

    Moved to learning to drive

    mod

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I've already got my 12 driving lessons done and will be doing the test soon enough, do I need to get a replacement or could I just wait until I hopefully pass my test and get a full license?

You'll need to present your permit before you can do the test.

You need to go to an NDLS centre and get it replaced. You have to go in person, you can't just send off for a new one.

    https://www.ndls.ie/how-to-apply.html

Click on Lost or Stolen License on the left, to see what paperwork you need to bring.

You can't do your test unless you have your learner permit. You can't do any driving at all without it.

In short, if nothing's changed, it'll be primary ID, maybe ppsn and 35 buckaroos.

If you haven't provided proof of PPSN to the NDLS (even an ancient payslip will do) you will have to do so the first time only so you won't even need to provide this if you've been to the NDLS center before. You have to provide photo ID as per NDLS guidelines (you can even get a certificate of ID signed by a Guard and presented with your birth cert if you have no other ID). If your address or any other personal details (eg adding a middle name or removing a double barrel name), you will have to provide proof. You won't have to bring photos.

Be careful of your end dates, if it was due for renewal in the next three months anyway you may have to provide other documents such as proof of application for a driving test for the new permit.
