Cheap to insure along with classic policy

During the summer I'll be insuring the E30 (hopefully anyway) on a classic policy, which means I need to have a primary policy on a normal car.

I was looking at getting something nice like a e36 318iS which as it turns out isn't really an option.

I thought I had a few years named driving experience to go on but that has expired since my folks changed to open driving last year. My own no-claims has also long expired and so I am basically back to square one when it comes to insuring a car

I've tried a few different cars but I can't really seem to get anything thats well below 1k, is this even possible? I had a e30 touring insured a few years ago for around the 600 mark. The same touring wit hall mods (engine, coils, wheels, etc) is around the 550 mark to insure on a classic policy. With that and another car I don't really fancy paying the guts of 2k insurance.

Anyone got experience with certain cars being cheap to insure? I'm going on 32 but no named driving or no-claims.

Won't buy a working Yaris for under €1k.

This worth a look, NCT until October and taxed until the end of March:

I only tried one site for a quick quote and a punto is no cheaper than a 316 bmw, a yaris is about the same.

Maybe I'm trying the wrong insurance company

Tried a good few cars on the Allianz, AIG and xsdirect sites. Which of these would make for a good buy for under 1500-2k?

Polo, Clio/Megane, Fabia, pug 206, Fiesta, Corsa? A Alfa 147 isn't totally out of the question either and along with a 2dr megane prob my pic of the lot.

Nobody here can answer that as insurance is not bought off a fixed menu. It is as much based on the individual as the car. There is no shortcut, your going to have to put some leg work into calling them if you want to get the most competitive price.
