Just hope the locos are up to the task. I take it they will used both 85 and 461. Otherwise they will need a GM at some parts for reversals.

As always locomotives are subject to availability but it would be hoped to use 461, 85 and possibly no 4

I thought 4 was in a long term overhaul?

The overhaul is progressing well and it is hoped that 4 will be back 2015

Great news considering what has just been posted about 171.

Steam Dreams a great success. In future it would be ideal if just the Driver and Fireman were on the footplate. Why the need for inspectors and observers. Let's keep it authentic and leave the job to the professionals.

The additional personnel are needed and they all have functions, they're not there for the craic.

One thing I did notice which may well highlight a problem. At Charleville there was a long queue for the Ladies, are the on-board loos not good enough perhaps?

I hope they're still not flushing onto the rails!

It just always struck me as a bit unfair on people who have to actually work on the lines to do maintenance. The fact the full fleet has now got retention toilets must have made their working lives a lot more pleasant.

On busier railways like parts of England it must've been petty disgusting.

I feel (felt) sorry for the lads in the valeting shed at Heuston!

I felt sorry for the passengers having to stand on a platform without a train at it!

    Thankfully things have moved on!

Still is, HSTs dump on the track even now. When a HST goes past and you're standing in the cess, you turn your back and hope you don't feel a mist across your face! :eek

Hopefully they'll fit the Belmonds with retention tanks!

So that's why it *really* says stand well back!
