    Hi,

Noticed a small damp patch on the kitchen ceiling a few hours ago. It's slowly spreading. It appears to be coming from the hot press, I noticed some water on one of the pipes.

Anyone advise what's the best thing to do or will I call a plumber out?

    Thanks

Could be a fitting thats failed or your cylinder may need changing, very hard to diagnose without being there. Call a plumber. I'd get this done asap, nothing worse than a burst cylinder.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have someone here now so fingers crossed it's nothing major.

Keep the cylinder as you will get good scrap value thus making it less of a hit. Or give to the plumber as his tip.

Keep the old cylinder so. Depending on size , probably standard size of 36 x 18 you could possibly get 46 euro for it as scrap.

Did he drain it down? Left you with heating as coil would still be ok. Is the 500 include everything, supply fit plus his call out today?

yeah he drained down heating. Cylinder will be around 170 ish depending on size then few fittings, should take him maybe and hour or so it fit it, then top up heating and make sure heating is up and running.

We were happy with everything, just to get sorted so quickly was great and the house was left clean which was a bonus.

Depending on your excess, it might be worth claiming on your house insurance as it would be covered for this type of thing, also damage to ceiling if its bad or sagging from water damage...Make sure you get receipts if you do claim.
