I've been reading up on this but can't get my head around it.

I'm shortly on a State pension contributory. Small savings in my name.

Partner is on Disability Allowance. Zero Savings.

What happens going forward if I was lucky enough to win say 3k, or 5k, and put it in my bank account, do I have to declare this and would half of it be assessed against my partner as means, even though none of it is in their name.

Trying to understand how my new situation works.

When you get your pension would you be better off claiming for your partner ie dependant adult.Other than that worry about extra money when you have it.

If you have zero savings then 3k or 5k winnings will not impact on your partners DA claim. You state con pension would not be affected even if you won a couple of million as the contributory pension is based on your contributions.

Would only get €153.60 as under 66 unfortunately.

fair point:D but I always like to know what could be coming down the tracks.

I understand that and it will be great to be on an insurance based payment myself.

Do I now only have to report any changes to my partners situation only.

e.g if i won a 100k etc and gave partner nowt..... nothing to report...
but If I gave partner half or all, then must report.

Hope I find myself in this situation yay :D

Oh if you won 100k then that would impact on partners claim whether or not you gave them anything and the onus would be on her to report any change to her means.

OP, note also that there are tax implications if you give your partner some of these winnings...

I have a sneaking suspicion you may be coming into money, so I too would be obliged if you will share the lotto numbers :pac:
