    Hi Gents.

I received a amiko alian 2 box yesterday and I'm having trouble setting it up I've tried to connect it a few different ways but I'm not getting a signal from the sat. Tuned the terrestrial successfully. Anyone have any advice on which coax should go where and can they have cut the signal from the dish to my aprt?

There are 2 LNB inputs on the rear of the box cable from the satelite dish goes in to the top connection marked LNB in
If you have 2 cables from the dish which would be normal connect both cables to the top connections marked LNB in

Did you have an existing satelite setup ( sky perhaps )
if so does the sky box still work on one of the free to air stations like bbc ?

Was the box supplied already programmed or was it blank ?
are you using enigma 2 or spark ?

Main Amiko Alien 2 thread is here for enigma 2

It was originally programed with E2 but i booted in spark due to the issues connecting. connected the box as you said and it doesn't pick up anything from 28.2. Do I need to change the connection settings? I fear i might be disconnected from the common sat in a coms room somewhere. I don't have a sky box I just moved in. I presume the previous tennents had sky because upc is not available in my building. Any ideas? Thanks for the reply too

You could try asking a neighbour if the building is wired for sky
Without a signal meter you may be a little snookered I think there is a meter built into the openATV e2 image
Do you know what e2 image is installed on your box
    OpenATV
    HDMU
    Openarp
    Hyperion

I will have a look on my amiko later as the kids are still watching the tv at the mo to see where to find the meter

It is possible but unlikley that its a config issue if the box was preprogrammed
If you like I can upload a working backup from mine and you could rescan the terrestial stns
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/8qvurr26namahyl/Backup%20openATV%20%2013-12-14.7z?dl=0
    Unzip to a usb key

But unlike the terrestial stations the satelite ones dont usually require rescanning

To check signal strength on openatv
    Menu
    setup
    Service Searching
    satfinder

its open atv I think but booting in spark at the min. terrestrial stns are working not as well as a smart tv I have in the other room did with the same aireal. in sat finder I select the 28.2 and scan it shows no channels. the bottom left bar which looks like a signal bar shows 63 but the right bar shows nothing.

If you have an old usb laptop drive lying around
Plug it in while into the amiko and format it using spark

Was having more issues with enigma. The stations tuned and only a few were working. I ran an update and now I have sound and the picture disappears a few seconds after boot up cant even see menu options. Booted in spark and it works there. Any thoughts?

Have you connected a hard drive or usb key
I ask as the cross EPG data downloaded will very quickly fill up the memory if you do not have a drive connected when you connect a drive go crossepg / configure and point it to the drive
For more opinions and help post in the main amiko alien thread
http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057246289 and your sure to get more help there
Also check out a program called dreamboxedit to configure the stations in the order you want

    EDIT
If you did a software update in openATV I would say that's where the problem could be as the software update is no good if the base version is any more than a week old
What is reccommended is an entirely new flash and set back up again from scratch using the latest nightly build from the openatv site

When your happy with the way you have it configured you make a backup and when you have issues you reflash your backup
You can also flash someone else's backup
I put one there for you a couple of posts back if you want to try it or I can reccommend fresh pott's Hyperion 4.5
