Hey! Sorry but just wondering does anyone know how much any of these notes could be worth??

    * A Johnathan Swift purple ten pound note 05/1/87
    * A Catherine McAuley five pound note 14/9/98 or 15/10/99

Central Bank would be yer man, They'll still exchange it for euros.

I wouldn't think they'd be worth too much, I dare say there's quite a few of those knocking about still.

I can't see them being worth a whole lot. I'd just run in to the Central Bank with them.

Scraping the penny jar and resorting to try cash in whatever you can? I know that feeling.

Just wait for a gullible American tourist to come along in a month and convince them that it was the currency used in the 1916 rising and see how many dollars you can get out of them. Cha ching.

Wasn't it 1.27euro to a punt? Or was it 79p?

    Eitherway. £10.50

    one is the inverse of t'other 1.27 euro = 1 punt. 79 p = 1 Euro

0.787564 is the actual rate so they're worth €19.046 (not sure if they'll round that up or down for you).

I've never seen (that I can recall) the tenner with Swift on it. You'd almost definitely get more than face value for it.

    eg. http://www.ebay.com/itm/IRELAND-IRISH-TEN-POUND-NOTE-JONATHAN-SWIFT-18-7-1978-/361205602838

The fivers are probably still too common to be worth much.
