Just had to check this list again because I saw news that Hyundai are replacing the ix35 and going back to Tucson name this summer. Personally I wouldn't buy a new car that's almost done in terms of its life cycle. But there the ix35 is, sitting at the top of the list. What am I missing, do people not check this, do they not care? Are there some amazing offers?

Why do companies do that change a vehicle name and go back to the old one a la vw with the jetta/vento.

It was called the Jetta all along in other markets.

I'd imagine they had an idea that different markets preferred different names, and now the idea of a world car with different names seems silly now?

In Hyundai's case they call the ix35 "Tucson" in other markets.

They might not rename it at all in our market. Although their other SUV the Santa Fe already deviates from the Hyundai i/IX badging system.

Hyundai have released images of the IX35 replacement. Strange that they're going back to the original name given the success of the IX35. Really like the look of the Santa Fe, but think that nose looks slightly too big here. Still, far nicer than the Ix35, which I think dated quite badly.

Agree better looking that the IX35 which wouldn't be too difficult. Also agree the nose is too heavy for this car. Then again I also think its overstated on the bigger Sante Fe and coupled with the small rear windows which makes the rear quarter profile very 'heavy metal', overall the Sante Fe comes across as a overly bulky design. Selling like hotcakes though!

Santa Fe looks bulky for the sake of it, and the ix35 wheels are way too small. Given a few design iterations and they'll improve, but will take a long time to build the class of the European rivals
