This will be an interesting one to keep an eye on from an irish perspective

Yep. A UAE win would be great. Too much to hope for though I fear

UAE to bat first after Zimbabwe win the toss

So we want UAE to win.. How likely is that?

Pretty unlikely tbh. Zim looked decent v SA. Actually of more benefit to us is if India and SA win all their games left (excluding the one against each other). Last thing we need is WI picking up an unlikely win against one of them.

Still leaves us having to pick up 2 more wins though, presumably against Zim and UAE

UAE batsman gets out of jail. Nicks one and is caught but its given no ball after a check and free hit given.

    Man down UAE. 26-1

Zimbabwe probably happier but not to much in it. UAE need to keep this partnership together for a bit longer

They are doing fairly decent alright so far.

Looking through the zimbabwe team though and most of their bowlers are fairly new and inexperienced, not to mention that while Zim did well against SA in the last game they were absolutely hammered a few months ago in Bangladesh

    This is good fun.

Basically a lot of Khurram Khan "facts" were trending today. :D

Lol, pity Khurram is out now

Started by Andrew Nixon? The Irish journo/CE guy?

Edit: Well at least I thought he was Irish

UAE going along quite nicely..... 193-4 after 39 overs.
Zimbabwe are going to have to work hard if they are to get this much needed victory.

    Nice little partnership this alright

On 204 with 6 wickets in hand and 10 overs. They could get 280 or so and make it competitive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

246-7 after 46. Competitive but gonna be tough defending anything below 300 on this ground. Still though good recovery. A warning to Ireland too if one was needed

280 in the end, should be competitive. I reckon we would have a very good chance chasing a total against the Zim bowlers

A win here for the UAE would be ideal for us no?

Good batting from them. But fielding is where they suffer badly so I still back Zimbabwe to chase this. Another good advert for the Associate game regardless though

I think a win for UAE would increase our chances of advancing to the quarter-finals with 2 group wins. But of course we can't rely on that logic, we realistically need to beat UAE and Zimbabwe to qualify.

They really are poor in the field but they have a chance here. 72-2 now.
