Changing crankset

I did a search and couldn't find an answer.my current setup is a 105 groupset with an r565 crankset. After a bike fit i'm looking to swap 175mm to 170. Have found a 170mm crankset on adverts that I was going to buy. It doesn't come with a BB.

I've never change anything on a bike myself bar switching between road and turbo wheels so I'm clueless with comparability etc. Will this work? Can I use my current BB?

Both mine and the used crankset have low mileage in fact the used one has less apparently.

Both are standard compact cranks 50-34.

I assume it comes with a Shimano adapter?

Havent got a clue what that means to be honest, excuse my naivety, but I'm guessing since there are Shimano R565 cranks on it then I should already have one?

You are grand they are compatible. Have a look at the park tools website so you have an idea how to go about it and what the little tool you need looks like. The trek BB you have will work fine with the new crankset.


BTW why the swap you will not notice much difference to be honest

Thanks for the help. I have chondromalicia and have had two arthroscopies for a torn meniscus last year. I was recommended trying a shorter crank as it appears at the top of rotation my knee wobbles a little to get control again and also if I want to move into a TT setup during the tri season I need the extra distance of space between my knee and the rest of me.

Want to give it a try and see.

OK fair nuff. Change should work out fine from a mechanical point of view anyhow, good luck with the knees
