I've offered to help out on the IT side of things at Irish Junior Championshiops (https://blanchardstownchess.com/?p=670) for this event, but I've no idea what kind of stuff people look for from chess tournaments in general. So what bits would people like to see from chess tournaments, at the venue and online? Live steaming, updated scores etc. not necessarily from this tournament but tournaments in general?

Speaking as a potential player in a tournament, this is what I would like to see:

A specific website for the tournament, or at least a dedicated page on the organising club's site. Nothing worse than having to scrabble round different sites trying to piece together what's going to happen, as I've had to do for a tournament (not in Ireland) I'm playing in this weekend.

    Before the tournament

Pictures of the playing hall, map showing access, ideally linking directly to the map on Google Maps (and not just the Google Maps homepage)
Crosstables from previous year's events, this gives an idea of the number of players and their strength.
The official tournament rules, which should include information on round times, prizes, entry cost, pairing system, tie-break system, any anti-draw rules etc. I want to see all this beforehand to make sure the organiser won't be making it up on the fly.
    Contact info is also important.

    During the tournament

Prompt start to the first round. I can understand a 5-10 minute delay, but anything more is taking the mickey.
Pairings being posted online (as well as in the playing area) as soon as they are available. Not just the night before for the next morning's round, but in the case of a tournament with a round at 10am and another at 3pm, it's nice to have access to the pairings at 2pm online. I may not be in the playing hall to see it (down the pub, having food, nipped back to hotel room for nap...) if it's only posted in the venue.
Updated crosstables after every round, online and posted up in the playing venue.
I'll probably think of more stuff tomorrow, but it's nice to see that you're asking the players what they want, so that's a good start!!

It shouldn't need to be said, but just in case, don't forget to check the website on a mobile phone to make sure it's readable there.
