UPC modem with phone - leave on all the time?

Got UPC 240 Mb with phone installed yesterday with a Techicolor modem.

In order for my UPC phone line to be active throughout the night, when I go to bed I have to leave the modem on. Right? There is no other way around this?

Previously when I had eFibre I turned the modem off at night.

I was wondering what people do in general with their modems - do you leave the modem on 24/7? Or maybe power it off once a day? Does leaving the modem on for long periods damage it?

    Cheers.

    That's good to know.

Had it in my head that it was always best to turn a modem off rather than leaving it on all the time.

    Cheers.

Yeah, just leave it on all the time. I have modem, router & UPC box on a separate power strip running 24x7. The only time I'll switch them off is if we're away for more than 2 days.

UPC box is left on as we have stuff recording at all odd hours. I can't say I've ever experienced an issue leaving the modem running all the time.

You can turn it off if you want to, but the phone and broadband won't work while it's off and for about 1-2 minutes after you turn it back on.

But yeah, best to be left alone, if you're obsessed with needing to refresh your hardware like me, you can turn it off then on again once a season or so.
