I have what i call a shore in my garden. its not a shore its a covering for an access point into sewage pipes i belieive. i am an end of terrace house so i presume all the othe houses waste flow under my garden and thats the access point. my query is that I have planted a few trees that may be inline with the piping. a rowan a hazel and a hawthorn. i dont want the roots of these to impact the pipe in the future. i have contacted fingal county council who replied that they cant supply any ifo. where do i need to go to find out the layout of these underground pipes.

There may be a formal wayleave over your property in favour of the council. If you have copy of the deed/folio map it may be shown there. It may also be visible on the interactive map on landdirect.ie. Of course it is possible that a wayleave may be not be indicated accurately. The most accurate way of finding the direction of the pipe is to get a pipe tracing done. There are many companies that can do it but it wouldn't be cheap.
You have a duty of care not to interfere with the sewer and could be held liable if you do damage.
