Crankshaft pulley

To cut a long story short, my anti-vibration damper pulley came apart on my commute home this morning which resulted in the belt coming off. From what I read this pulley has some rubber in it. Im assuming the metal part came away from the rubber causing the fail. There are tiny shards of metal in the pulley area so thats a bad sign. I know I shouldnt have but I drove the remaining 8 miles home with no Power steering etc etc.

After doing some googling its evident its not a diy job so im contacting a mech at the moment.

I would just like an idea of what sort of bill I can expect from him. I know it will need a new pulley and belt but im unsure if a new timing belt, water pump etc etc will be needed. Any idea of the cost or work involved. Its a Peugeot 407 1.6 Hdi

Your lucky the water pump runs off the timing belt on these engines or you could have cooked the engine.

    You'll need just the pulley/dampener and a drive belt(not a timing belt).

It's a very quick job. Half hour max.

If it's not a dealer then it depends on if the mechanics done it before.
My car is a bastard for crankshaft pulleys ( they fail after about 18 months taxiing ) the first one took him over half a day, the last 40 mins

What car is it, do you get any warning sounds before it goes?
