A few of months ago our toddler was sick during the night, he had a high fever so my wife decided that she wanted to bring him to Tallaght Hospital which is the closest hospital to us. We got there at about midnight. By 4am we hadn’t seen a doctor and the place was really full, we decided that we would leave and go straight to the Swiftcare clinic when it opened at 8am, that we would probably be seen quicker. I went up to the lady at the desk and explained the situation and to make sure that we were marked off any waiting list. She said that I had to go into the nurses station to tell them so I did. I asked if we would be getting a bill and she said that we would not because we had not seen anyone. We went to Swiftcare in Dundrum later that morning

About two months ago we got a bill from the hospital for €100 from Tallaght Hospital. We phoned them straight away and explained the situation, the person we spoke to said that she would amend the file and that we didn’t owe money.

Last week we got a letter from Intrum Justitia stating that they were in charge of collecting the debt now and that we had to contact them to pay. Again, my wife phoned them straight away and explained the situation and the lady she spoke to said that she would strike the bill from their system and that would be the end of it.

I was talking to a friend last night and mentioned this, he said that we should check to see if this has impacted our credit rating. Could a mistake like this impact our rating does anyone know? How would I go about checking this?

It could impact your credit rating if it went to court.

Dont deal with IJ. Deal directly with the hospital. Ask for them to confirm in writing the charge and dispute it via return. Keep records of everything
