    hi

    ive zero experience with macs.
and have been asked to install forticlient VPN on a new mac.

so i've downloaded the software. www.forticlient.com
i'm then left with a "forticlientupdate" listed under devices, that doesnt do anything.

any advice on how i proceed??
    thanks...

A .dmg file is a disk image file. when double clicked it should open in a new window on the Finder or possibly create a new folder on the desktop. The contents of this folder are what you need. Most Mac Applications you simply drag the contents of this folder to the Applications directory, some you double-click to start an installer which will guide you through.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but are you sure you downloaded a file suitable for Mac OS X and not Windows ?

What version of the Mac OS is installed on the Mac ? Click the Apple logo at the top-left of the screen and then click About this Mac.

    Hi Zener.
    thanks for your reply.

ya, the file is supposed to work with this version of mac os.
the .dmg downloads the file fine, and creates a "foticlientupdater" .app file, that i think is supposed to connect to the internet and download the rest of the software, but it doesnt progress at all.

anyhoo, the laptop i was working on is out of my reach now (gone back to india) so i wont be able to test it any further. (it was one of thoes last minute requests :))

thanks for you suggestions and help.
