Planning a trip in a few weeks and not been through Dublin in years.

Flight 1045am, this seems to be the quietest part of the morning so I assume arriving 0945 should do me OK, no checking in to do, just straight to gate.

90 minutes is the minimum I'd do unless you're paying for fast track security

I wouldn't risk it. 90 minutes minimum. The airport is a lot bigger & busier these days. You have to queue to do everything and you have very long walks to the gates. The departure gates usually close for boarding, anywhere from 20-30 minutes before departure, so you don't have the full hour to get to the gate.

I wouldn't cut it that close myself. I'd leave myself 2 hours to be on the safe side. I'd rather be too early for a flight than too late. You can relax and have a cup of tea or something if you've a bit of time to spare.

If you're flying Ryanair, then give it a bit more time. If you're flying someone else, you should be fine.

Thanks- not sure what I'll do yet. Travelling from Limerick so options are limited enough public transport wise. In any case I'll probably book security fast track.

With public transport, you're always throwing another variable in to the mix, so best to be cautious I find.

if you book fast track, one hour is fine.

I took a 10:45 flight from T1 yesterday. Although I was fast track, I could see that there was no real delay on the other queues. Since the opening of T2, T1 is a comparable ghost town.

    It is.

I arrived at the airport at 6:50am on Friday and boarded my flight at 7:10 for a 7:30 departure.

City Jet have a 15 min check in, so I was confident I'd be ok.

Forget about your flight departure time. It's gate closing time that matters. That's usually 30 mins prior to departure time. When you check in it'll be on your ticket.

I fly from both terminals regularly. I always have fast track and usually get to security 15 mins before gate closure. It's almost always very early in the morning so I squeeze it as much as possible but to be safe give yourself 30 mins. Longer if you need to hit any shops. I nearly got caught yesterday when fasttrack was slower then the normal queue. Got the flight but was last to board.

Standard security is a complete unknown. It could take 2 mins. It could take 20.

I know it's a pian in tha ass waiting around airports but it's an even bigger pain in the ass waiting in a queue knowing your flights about to close.

Bus goes every 30 minutes. Change at the red cow for the airport.
