Irish duo savagely beat up an innocent man in Bristol in case of mistaken identity

Looking at this CCTV footage, it seems strange that they got so lenient a sentence!

Although I guess I should be more surprised that they got a sentence at all - had it happen here the judge would let them off with an apology and probably enroll them in a scholarship programme!

Belongs in the Pavee Point Megathread.

    Is there one?

Why? Their ethnic background is irrelevent to the act tbh. Thread title said exactly what happened - this was the work of individuals, there isn't any need to make this a free for all on their community.

Why point out they are Irish then in your thread title. Are you discriminating against Irish people?

Try reading the title of the article you posted by the way. You know, the one with 'travellers' in it? And also says fcuk all about them being Irish.

They should be deported back to Ireland if they were born here.

How do you know they're Irish?

Regardless whether they were born here or not the English locals will certainly see them as Irish, even if people here don't.

I remember reading comments about Dale Farm at the time in the Telegraph, it used to be all "Send those micks back to Ireland!" even though most of them if not all them were born and bred in England.

I thought Travellers were a separate ethnic group?

Please don't associate the actions of these particular thugs with Ireland. 99% of Irish people in the UK are fine solid upstanding citizens.

The victim got a cut above his eye. He wasn't that badly injured. I would think that the two boys should have had to pay compensation in order to avoid jail but there was no mention of it.

The assault looks bad on camera but it didn't cause that much damage. Depending on the circumstances, maybe it would be better that they didn't go to jail, especially with previously clean records.

Trying to kick someone in the head like that is pretty serious whatever the outcome.

Also, notice the specific reference to no previous convictions for violence, doesn't really imply a completely clean record.

I am sure these two bitterly regret not remembering in the UK they have CCTV, two on one is the normal style designed to maximise damage. two on one should carry a long sentence, Odd they got away with such a small sentence. and on the ethnicity end, I would very much doubt anyone here would beat the crap out of someone two on one for getting called paddy.

You might think differently if it was you they roughed up.

Is odd, Two random scumbags beat a German over here on paddy day got loads of outrage. Yet two people beating a guy over the water does not.

Yes, but they only did it the one time. Not to mention the difficult upbringing I'm sure they've had.

    They've 99 chances left I'd say.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that it wasn't a case of mistaken identity. That was just the excuse they used. They probably did it for no reason.

here the cut would indicate a higher level of assault. It's strange but if you have the crap kicked out of you but no blood it's actually a lesser offence than a small cut.

That being said, the assault wasn't that bad. And if it's a first offence then prison wouldn't be warranted. If it was used in every situation then our prisons would be massively increasing in population every weekend.

This is not particularly difficult. You can also often tell a traveler by just listening to them.

Same as switching between Mac, Mc, O' or switching between parents' surnames. Can be handy having a few different names. For purely legitimate reasons obviously.

Must be embarrassing for the scumbag to throw that many digs and only open a cut above your mans eye. I'd say his family are morto

No, I'm a mysterious billionaire who doesn't need to work. I ride around on my high horse all day, righting wrongs and dealing out my own brand of rough justice on the Internet.

    Yourself?

I understand what you're trying to say, but it might all seem very different in the thick of it
