Hi im Purchasing a bike on the bike to work scheme, however if all goes well im hoping to take cycling as my main fitness regime, so ive decided instead of spending €600 on a bike now and 6 months later wishing i got a better groupset and carbon forks, ill splash the whole €1000 on just above entry level bike, and by the accessories separate.

After painfull(albiet fun!) researching, ive narrowed it down to 3 bikes, based on bang for buck and the price range.

    Cube Peloton Race €999
    Giant Defy 1 €1099
    Scott speedster 20 €1000

The cube seems to have the more bang for buck, having the full 105 groupset and fulcrum wheels, the Giant having a mix match of tiagra, own brand brakes etc.
the speedster i was told was the best deal because he told me it was up for €1150 but he'd give it to me for 1000 and to keep it between us! the colour is a bit union jackish, a bit of a put off.

    what you think???
is their a huge difference between 105 & tiagra since 105 is now 11 speed? or is it just weight?

    Thanks!

Anyone any ideas or have you one of these bikes?

For €1000 you can get a Canyon, full 105, carbon forks and seatpost, Mavic Aksiums

I'd go for the one you like the look the most. There's not much difference really between bikes at this price range. You may as well look good while getting fit and your more like to be motivated to ride a nicer looking bike.

bought the peleton pro years back as my first bike to work bike and its still going strong as my winter-bike. cant speak for the others, but the cube (apart from the famously ****e easton wheels that came with it) has been reliable, comfortable and fast

I'm very happy with my cube. Can't fault it

Have the speedster 40 (2014). Solid and reliable bike. The look of this years batch is definitely a downgrade on last year though. :)

Yeah I looked elsewhere and seen that €999 is the standard price for the speedster, so he must be trying to make it look like a steal to move it, it's a ghastly colour scheme.
