no sound on laptop

    Hi all,

    I have a dell inspiron 1720 and the sound is not working.
    Any ideas what the problem and solution is.

    Have you tried turning it off and back on? If you put headphones in do they work?

    Make sure you have the sound card driver downloaded and installed from here. Another obvious but easy to miss check is if the speakers are muted or not.

    Not only should you make sure that the sound icon down near the clock isnt muted, also make sure that the program you're using to watch/listen to stuff isnt muted. Its an easily made mistake that I've seen many times before.

    Turned off computer and when i turned back on sound was back
