    Okay,

Hello everyone. This question probably gets asked all the time but here it is again. So I've a flight to London Stansted in the coming week from Cork at 6:40 - Great time..... I wont have any bags maybe just a school bag to carry on.. What time should I check in? Its obviously a short flight so maybe you wont need to be there 2 hours before as usually stated? Hopefully not anyway!

Also on the way back our flight is at 20:35 so what time would you suggest then. I could imagine Stansted could be fairly busy at that time so maybe a bit of extra time?

    Thanks again guys,

    have a good one!

Hi there, if your flight is at 6.40 and you have only carry on bag, check and see what time the gate is closing at I would says it probably about 6.15 or so, I would suggest you are in the airport about 40 mins to no more than 1 hr beforehand to allow to get through security and get ur self a coffee if u want one and then relax.i presume Cork airport is smaller than Dublin. On the way back I would recommend being at stansted a good hour or more to allow for security and any other delays.

You can check in a few weeks in advance so do it as soon as you can! If you mean what time should you turn up to the airport then probably an hour before the boarding time, depending on the airport (security, walking distance etc.).

Got to Cork airport recently for a Ryanair flight and to be honest we would have got away with arriving 15 minutes before the flight time (don't do this!) as there was no queue in security, the gate was just by duty free, and they started boarding 15 minutes after the boarding time. But it's worth getting to the gate earlier than boarding time if you want to be guaranteed a place for your bag in the overhead.

Ryanair flights can depart up to half an hour early, afaik they close check in 40 minutes before scheduled departure so even with online check in you should aim to be in the airport an hour before the flight.

Stanstead airport is a completely different kettle of fish, security is a nightmare and I've been delayed going through security for up to 90 minutes. I'd aim to be there two hours before and relax rather than stress about missing your flight while stuck in a security queue.

Did that 2 weeks ago due to an incident on the motorway. Arrived at 6:35 for a 7:05 gate closing, never ran so fast through an airport.

There is a fair amount of construction going on in the Stansted departure terminal that Ryanair use. It limits the amount of space they have for security checkpoints and adds to the amount of walking you have to do to get to the gate. (At least it was going on when I was traveling thru it back in December and I'd be surprised if it is finished by now.) I'd deffo give yourself a bare minimum of 90 minutes. Make it 2 hrs and you can sample the delights of Weatherspoons 9876 beers while you wait.

I'd be walking in the door of Cork airport no later than 5.40.

By the time you get through security, find out what gate you are at, gab a coffee or whatnot, you will not feel it until they are calling for boarding.

Ryanair have an app now that you can use to check in. It's very handy, but you still need two of passport number, email address used to book the flight, or credit card used to book (i think).

It's a tiny bit slow, but still dead handy.

Make sure you have everything to hand if you're using this! If you forget something you have to start all over again as it doesn't save any details.

in case the OP REALLY wants to check-in at the airport (as thats literally what the question is) then maybe they should be aware of the €70 fee for check in at the airport.

Cork airport is tiny. I've never waited more than 10 mins at the security and from there to the gates it's a 30 second walk.

I would aim to be at the airport around 5.55am, park the car and you'll be in the security queue by 6.05am.

Again I'm not recommending this but I have arrived in Cork at 6.10am for the 6.40am flight. Slept in and practically abandoned the car in the car park. Arrived to the gate at 6.25 just as boarding was starting. Not worth the stress.

I always give myself 2 hours in stanstead

You can if they meet the cabin bag size requirements that are listed on the Ryanair website. They don't differentiate between different kinds of bags. They just require the bags not to be over the size limit.
