Timeline for buying a new car

    Hi

I've decided to buy a new Ford Fiesta. This will be my first car. I'll need the car 2-3 weeks from now. I don't know how realistic it is to expect the purchase to be complete in such a time frame. I'd ring Ford dealers, but it's Saturday night. I'd rather know sooner than later if my plans are unrealistic.

Suppose I ring a dealer saying I want to buy a standard Ford Fiesta configuration. How long would it take for the car to be available? What kind of paperwork is involved, and how long does it take?

I have a full driver's licence and will pay cash, if this makes any difference.

    Thank you

If the dealer has the car and you have the readies then you could be driving home Monday.

Shop around, see what deals are going. See if there are any pre-reg, zero mileage 151 reg fiestas around.

What if they have to order it, say because they don't have the colour I want. Do this usually take days, weeks or what?

Factory order would be 3-4 months.

What colour/spec had you in mind?

Black, 5 doors, ecoboost engine and parking sensors. Nothing too fancy I hope!

Actual ecoboost with a turbo, or makey-uppey irish non turbo ecoboost?

Irish non-turbo. I actually don't know if it's worth it, but according to ford.ie, the difference in price is around €300, so I thought why not.

FWIW, spirit ford have a 1.0 turbo titanium in black

They're doing swappage, as in a trade in thing. Not sure how a straight deal would go.

Brilliant. I'll give them a call. Much appreciated.

Just to add that the dealer should be able to fit aftermarket parking sensors for you, otherwise you will be waiting alot longer than 3 weeks for one from the factory.
