First up you seem to have duplicated what you are actually receiving from Sky. What I think you are getting is the following and includes the current prices.

    Sky variety pack - €38
    Sports & Movies - €45
    HD - €15
    Multiscreen - €15

    Total = €113

You need to call them as you are paying top dollar for that lot. Ask for a good discount and threaten to cancel (and be prepared to allow that to happen) if you want to force a decent discount. Dont accept the first offer they make you.

With regards to the BB and phone it depends on the BB speeds you are getting and what type of call pack you are on ...anytime calls or off peak? You probably wont get it much cheaper than that although Sky have a decent offer on their phone and BB packs at the moment especially the fibre BB if you are in a fibre enabled area.

If you're in the middle of a contract, there's not a lot you can do. You'll have to serve out the remainder of your contract. If you're with them on a month to month basis however, cancel. That's what I did. I was on a half price deal for nine months and phoned them up to cancel it. They tried to get me to stay, by suggesting I drop the sports and movies and stay on the basic package. The sports is the only reason I was with them anyway, so I declined their offer. Anyway, after the month's notice was up, the channels were turned off. 10 days later, I got an email off them offering me the same half price deal again. So I'm back with them again. Sports, movies and the variety pack with the HD package. It works out at €49pm. I could drop the movies, but (with the half price offer) it's only €3pm extra.

I'll try that. We have been with them for 6 years and got HD about 15 months ago

I'm currently free to air only - saorview aerial and 80cm dish pointed at 28.2 picking up all the usual stuff.

I'm wondering what Sky would charge me for a first time connection for the basic HD package plus all sports options - not at all interested in films or entertainment add ons.

And similiarly, what sort of a deal would BT/Setanta do for me?

    Anyone any recent experience?

    Here are the steps

Step 1 Get a Freesat receiver

First thing you need to do is order a wifi in built Humax Freesat Freetime,
you should order from the below website as its more expensive to buy here in Ireland
    http://www.satbuyer.co.uk/humax-hdr-1010s-freesat+hd-freetime-1tb-digital-box-white-p210.html
if you order the above from home, it usually takes 2-3 for delivery from the UK to Dublin
    http://cdn.freesat.co.uk/freesat/freesat_website/content/downloadables/f323%20-%20rnib%20channels%20guide%20-%20nov%2014_v2.pdf
list of Freesat TV channels but you mark TV channels into 'favourite TV channels' of 34 freesat TV channels for example
London Postcode W12 7RJ for freesat recievers postcode

    Step 2 Get Sky TV

Go to the Sky Shop in ILiac Shopping centre in Henry St
You need an utility bill with your name/address, your passport and your bank account details for the direct debit.
Your local bank branch should be able to provide those details for you.
When you get to the sky shop, explain you just want want the 'sky original bundle; for 29euros; in your main tv room. Ignore the offers of 3-6 months of half price sky sports/sky movies, as when you say yes, you will forget to say cancel after 3-6 months. Sky Shop should tell you after they have your details of when someone will come to your house to install Sky Tv, its usually 7-10 days

Step 3 When Sky TV comes to your house

Make sure you are there when Sky TV come around to your house.
Before the installer installs the dish, tell him you want Sky TV in your main TV room.
Also at the same time, explain that you have a freesat receiver, can you copnnect another room please with 2 satellite connections. This extra connection has nothing to do with Sky but should cost about 150euros for this extra.
The Sky installer will make sure sky will work for you. Just follow the instructions from Step 1 and the freesat manual to connect freesat.

When Sky is installed, phone Sky, explain to them you want just the special
(Sky sports1/sky sports 5 package) between 15euros-20euros per month as you are only interested in football.

To get the 'setanta pack on sky' including BT Sport etc.
Go to www.setanta.com/ie, click on subscribe, select the 1 year subscription for 199euros as its cheaper than the normal monthly subscription.

Step 4 get saorview installed a week later
When sky/freesat are installed, go to www.satellite.ie
    contact them by phone
Explain you want saorview in 2 rooms please
    It should cost under 200euros
make sure you are there when they come to install saorview

    Furthermore
But keep UPC Broadand and Phone package 44euros per month, with no phone line (UPC Broadband alone is more expensive).
