    Hi Lads,

I bought the following router and can't get it working with O2 fibre BB

    http://www.tp-link.com/lk/products/details/?model=TD-W9980

Just wondering does anyone use their own router with 02

    thanks

Does it support vectoring? If not even though it supports VDSL2 it won't work at all as Eircom efibre is set to kick all modems that don't support vectoring as they will pull down the whole cabinet

I do know that there are very few modem/routers that do support vectoring, not heard that one mentioned. Most just bridge the Huawei or zyxel that supports vectoring and add a normal router

Cant go down that route this time, friend has phone line split between two buildings and had two vodafone fibre routers but changed to 02 due to a better price, they only sent out one so I was hoping the above would work. I was reading about putting custom firmware on the Vodafone routers to make it work with O2, not sure that would work though..

You should only need to change the pppoe username and password

With the Vodafone firmware on the router, the username \ password option is greyed out, no matter what combo I enter...

Don't O2 ship the same Huawei router?

IIRC theres a way to edit the HTML to fix that. Cant remember where I saw it though.

    May do
I think The TP-Link TD-W9980 (and the 8970 and 8980), and the BT Home Hub 5, all use the VRX268 chip. Doesn't actually mention vectoring on the entry level router page, although a whitepaper and the general vectoring page suggests they might do vectoring after a firmware update.

Theres another post in the same thread that notes some changes in a later FW that suggests it was implemented.

It's Eircom eFibre resold by O2, business packages only, no residential afaik
