Depends on soil fertility- assuming index 1 you need 100 units n 30 p and 140 k just to maintain levels- you might think that's extreme but that what a hungry crop requires

Slurry at 4000 gals per acre applies 25n 12 p and 100k roughly but on low index soils you still need above program

Sulphar at 20 units per acre is also essential to improve protein % of silage

    Don't forget lime

    I'm not selling either

    1st cut here is getting
    3 x 0-7-30/ac
    And 65-70 units of N
Its a hybrid so should be A1 at that

Is 20 units of Sulphur enough..?

    How much is sulphur?
Mate said to me a while ago he used it. His first cut was 18%P

    Stan,
Would you advise to put out 3000k pig slurry, 2t Lime & Nitrogen for first cut?
If so, what sort of duration if intended cut date would be 1st June

    I'm paying €283/ton for 20%N - 0 - 0 -56S.
I give 30units/acre sulphur to everything bar maize.

Be careful with too much sulphar if grazing only- dawg your grand as buffer feeding but too much sulphar can have serous embryo losses

    Thanks.
Probably better waiting later in the season to spread so. Later season application would also help against the drought.

    Small first cut?
The meadows are currently being grazzed by ewes & lambs (nice cover), be closing up after Paddy's.
Would you put all out together, or leave a week between each?

My early silage ground is currently been grazed and will receive 3 k gallons of slurry from u derground tanks followed by 2* 18 6 12 and topped up with a bag of asn(27 n 14 s)hope to cut first week of May ,rest of silage targeted to cut last week may and will get same.looking like I will have a big bank of feed left this year hence early first cut, aftergrass back in late May /early June will be a big help.will bale often and hard again this year even though Sr on milk block will be 2.8 overall and will be up at 5 at stages with long and short term silage

2500 gallons of slurry and 3 bags of 25-4-0 with sulphur. is what im going with. your only guessing until you get your soil tested.

Can excess sulphur lock up other minerals? I'm just thinking for drystock is there anything to think about?

Do you put all this out at the same time? Just asking because I was wondering about mixing it inside the shaker?

Are you a bit light on N?
    I'll go 4000 slurry in 2 applications with 1*Urea + 2.5*18-6-12

ASN for 2nd cut and all lighter soils. I like to get 20 units of S out on these before June. Rest will get with SNet.

No go seperate. You'll be all day trying to mix it and it won't go out even if you try mix it yourself.
Half the field might only get 30 units of N and rest get 100 units

You are discounting almost all the n in slurry so. To be honest I do the same.

Do any of ye test the slurry? Had the bottles here an all but forgot about it when the contractor was here, will try and test the tower later but all the small tanks would have varying quality stuff
