Legal/Car Insurance query

I have fully comprehensive car insurance on my car for years. I recently dropped my car into the garage for one day and transferred my car insurance to the garage rental. When I collected my car, I forgot to inform my insurance company straight away that I had my regular car back and during these few hours I was involved in an accident with another car.

I was stopped in a car park and another car backed in to me. Scratches to both cars. What is my level of insurance cover? do I have third party?

Would the Guards consider this to be driving without insurance?

Some things are best left unsaid.

You were stopped. Another car hit your car. Even if you had no license, tax, nct, insurance, the other party is at fault if they hit a stationary vehicle. If the so called lack of insurance is brought to the attention of the Gardai, that's a separate issue. You are obliged to inform your insurer that you were in an accident.

In all cases where i transferred insurance to another car, i was asked for how long. Usually 24-48 hours.

Good news. I have 3rd party cover for that day from the insurance company. Will sort out my own car. Nothing major at all.
