Hi there, I was wondering what is the average workload for a part time computer course, the course is a 3 year diploma in Waterfordit consisting of 3 years of 60 credits per year.the thing is I am working and have 2 small kids and was wondering if there's enough hours in the week to get all the classes and study in .
the course runs 2 nights a week from 7 to 10 and Saturdays from 9:30to12:30 and I would also have to travel an hour to the college.
I know this question can't be given a definite answer but maybe someone who has Been in a similar situation could give me a ballpark figure as to the amount of hours needed for study outside the classroom.
    Thanks :)

A general rule of thumb is for every hour in class/lab allow two hours outside. So according to your figures (9 hours/week), that would be an extra 18 hours, so that's 27 hours a week in total.

Hi Tom, thanks for your reply .i thought since this course is the equivalent as the full time day course. except taught over 9 hours a week compared to the approx 20 hours full time that there would be more outside study to make up the shorter class hours . thanks again :)
